Ways we have learned to show you Peru
Four decades of running trips here taught us there is no single way in.
Overview
Start with how you want to travel
Not with a map. Every trip we build begins with the same question: what do you want your days to feel like? Walking hard and sleeping under canvas is a different holiday from market mornings and long lunches, even when both end at Machu Picchu.
These are the ways of travelling we know well enough to promise. Most journeys borrow from more than one, and that is usually the right answer.

Everything you need to know
Do I have to choose one way of travelling?
No, and most people should not. Journeys usually borrow from two or three of these. Tell us which pulls hardest and we build outward from there.
How far ahead should I book?
Six months for an Inca Trail permit, which is the one date nobody can move. Two to three months is comfortable for everything else, and we have built good trips in three weeks.
Can this be combined with Machu Picchu?
Almost every trip we run ends there or passes through. Say so early and we shape the days around the permit dates rather than against them.
How fit do I need to be?
It depends entirely on the route. Tell us honestly what you walk in a normal week and we will say which of these is a holiday for you and which is a challenge.
Do you run fixed departures?
No. Everything here is a starting point, rebuilt around your dates, your pace and the size of your group.
Who will I be travelling with?
Your own group, and a guide who grew up on these trails. We do not sell seats on somebody else’s bus.
